bctv.org (formerly Community Information Hub)

Project summary: $255,000 in Reading, Pa.

With local media outlets diminishing, this grant will help the Berks Community Television station, a 25-year-old, respected public broadcaster, establish an online community information hub, bctv.org for Berks County. The site, which will be capable of streaming video and hosting blogs and forums, will be staffed by an editor and an investigative journalist, as well as regional citizen journalists. Its reports are expected to be picked up by other regional media outlets.
