Gary Kebbel joined Knight Foundation in January 2006 as a journalism program officer. He concentrates on grant-making in the new media area and is administering the foundation’s $25 million Knight News Challenge to strengthen community news and community life.
He was the news director at America Online for six years, where he headed the team that built AOL News into one of the world’s largest online news sites.
